life goes on as time allows

Morning. Coffee—well, lots of stuff between waking and coffee.

Checking email: A “mistaken” solicitation from Texas to survey my tractor experience (re: my lawnless urban street) escaped automatic routing to my spam folder. The option to unsubscribe could be a trick to route me to an automatic malware download from Russia or China or Iran. Such is living with political aggression in the metropole. (Such is my fantasy that I matter enough to be phished.)

The American Association for the Advancement of Science offers me
(as member) a free download of an estate planning kit. But the “From” address isn’t AAAS. Sorry, Russia? Sorry, whomever knows I’m elderly.

The Merriam-Webster “Word-for-the-day” is ‘fallacious’.

The Bipartisan Policy Center advocates formalizing “election administration professions.” That’s sensible, since autocrats (and their phishing minions) work to cause electoral processes to appear fallacious.

The Atlantic today pushes an article about an incompetant bureaucrat who rose quickly through the ranks of the Trump administration as total sycophant against “the Deep State” who typifies what a new autocracy would be.

The Notre Dame Philosophical Review pushes the review of more irrelevant scholasticism [Descartes] which advances the scholar’s employment security.

A Brookings Brief discusses “the changing role of the U.S. dollar.” I think of the rainbow of colors on a soap bubble, slowing flowing around in each other, like jet streams of climate around Earth or trends of the day in money markets.

The most recent Nature newsletter reports at its top about “emissions interventions that really work.”

Yesterday, E. J. Dionne published the best sense of the Harris campaign (relative to the Democratic National Convention) that I’ve seen: “…a master class in coalition building.” (“As Harris claims Oakland, Berkeley forgives.”) Today, Trump is hinting that he may cancel debating Harris in early September. Go, guy. Putt some forgettable holes on an artificial green. America doesn’t need time for witniessing more need for adult supervision of you. (“Not going back!”—Harris chant— associates to outgrowing Creationist ethos and Originist conceptuality. “A new way forward” associates to the reality of Our evolving: We make it, or it doesn’t happen.)

Israel’s war against genocidal Shi’ite factions isn’t near closure.

After another “nightmare” of drone strikes across Ukraine, Zelenskyy says that Putin “can only do what the world allows him to do.”

The World?: as if there is a singular presence allowing.

There is a singularity of 24/7 media globality. Opinion flows like jet streams on a soap bubble.

Do We insist that “the West” stay the course?

Of couese. Better humanity demands this.

Meanwhile people’s mythical God (or Allah) “shows” singular silence in war—or as no witness to famine in Sudan. The world allows famine? The African Union allows?
